How To Become an Arts Advocate

Fall 2020

Throughout this video, we share the insights of many local artists and organizers on arts advocacy in hopes of engaging and inspiring community members to thrive as arts advocates throughout their lives. By sharing these unique perspectives, this guide will publicize and promote the advocacy of arts, establishing the arts as a necessity, and the inclusivity of communities of all ages and levels of experience. This will act as an introductory resource for anyone to start their journey of arts advocacy through education and participation.

Spring 2020: A to Z Project

Spring term, we choose inspiration from a book about social justice called A is for Activist by Innosanto Nagara.  Nagara's book plays with rhymes, words and images from the letters A to Z, exploring concepts of justice, respect, activism, diversity, LGBT rights, workers' and environmental rights and more.  Artist as Citizen challenged spring term 2020 students to create their own A to Z collections.  We encouraged students to showcase any and all art practices, with flexibility and creativity leading the work.  Click in on the images below to connect to some of the projects.
