Welcome

Welcome to The Artist as Citizen (AasC) at Portland State University, an interdisciplinary initiative that aims to create multiple pathways for students to discover their potential to affect social change as members of local and global communities. Founded by Portland State University faculty Darrell Grant and Suzanne Savaria in 2016, The Artist as Citizen Initiative is committed to centering the arts as a collaborative medium connecting faculty & students across disciplines by developing curriculum, educational outreach, and community-based learning approaches that bridge artistic creativity and civic engagement, and have social advocacy as a core principle.
